Coronavirus: Maybe it’s More Contagious Than We Know

The pathetic story of a friend who almost lost his scholarship

This article is borne out the experience a friend of mine recently had when he traveled to South Korea from Nigeria.

Just before the pandemic became serious in February 2020, he got a scholarship to study in Korea. However, the scholarship was put on hold due to the pandemic and he was asked to study online.

After 9 months of studying online, the school informed him that he could travel to Korea to complete his studies.

Part of his travel requirements is to have a COVID 19 test, which he did 48hours before traveling. And yes the result was negative.

While on-board, my friend strictly observed all the COVID 19 protocol, however on his arrival at Incheon international airport, he was tested again and this time, the result was positive. So he got quarantine for almost a month.

His story made me to ponder the possibility of a PCR test conducted by some countries might be giving a fake result, or is it possible to contract the virus in a space of 24hrs while flying in the air?

Luckily for him, he recovered and has since started his studies.

But his story makes me doubt the safety of traveling at this moment, and am not sure if our airlines and airport have put in the best prevention Protocol to ensure people don’t get infected while on transit. Or maybe the Coronavirus is more contagious than we know it for now.
